Shut the Box Up

Shut the Box Up is a great one or two player game. These instructions will help guide you to build this game with minimal hardware. The  game can be built with 9-12 pieces these instructions are made to help guide you in your build.
   


Instructions to build Shut the box up

the object of the game is roll 2 dice cubes and flip up all the numbers. for example, if you roll a

1 + 6
you can flip up the 1 and 6 or the 7 only.

if all the numbers are up, your score is 0 and you win.  If the only number left is 8 and you roll a 3 your final score is 8 the goal is to get the lowest score possible.

Quattro is a mathematical game with the objective to make  4 in a row by using the 16 unique game pieces.

these plans are a guide to build the game board, a stylish box, and the 16 individual game pieces. Because each shop is different and your tools may very, the exact details on how to do each operation are left out.

Quattro is played on a 4×4 board. There are 16 unique pieces, each of which is either:

• tall or short;
• red or blue (or a different pair of colors, e.g. light- or dark-stained wood);
• square or circular; and
• hollow-top or solid-top.

Players take turns choosing a piece which the other player must then place on the board. A player wins by placing a piece on the board which forms a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row of four pieces, all of which have a common attribute (all short, all circular, etc.). A variant rule included in many editions gives a second way to win by placing four matching pieces in a 2x2 square.
Quarto is distinctive in that there is only one set of common pieces, rather than a set for one player and a different set for the other. It is therefore an impartial game

How to build Quridor

The Down Draft Table

Ever get tired of that thin layer of dust coating your entire shop? I spent the weekend building this downdraft table. This is my first attempt at a downdraft table, I understood the basic principals of how the table would work, so I built the project based on 3' x 5' work bench about 33" off the ground.

3 Drawer Shelf

Last year my wife was looking for some wood  work projects that involved some skill but were light on materials. This shelf is the result. This project allows students to learn a variety of joinery, cutting and finishing techniques and the end product is something a student can be proud of. My brother, who is also a tech ed teacher (starting to notice a pattern) drew up this set of plans to go with it.

Simple Long board, no vacume required

Always looking for that quick project to grab the kids attention and get them in to wood work, but don't have the money to by expensive tools. Here is a great little package on how to make a long board at relativity low cost. It is a simple jig that is easy to use. You can make the long board from high end plywood instead of hard to find verniers.

Boat shelf for your stuff

My little brother Devin just put this project together. It a a book shelf in the shape of a boat. Great centrepiece for any room and it teaches students the basics of boat building with out the fancy plywood.  The package is very detailed so it is worth a try.

Wood Basket Ball Game

This is a great little project. The hop was designed by a colleague with a little help from a similar toy seen in a store. I wrote up the plans to use with my grade 8 Tech ed classes. They really enjoy it and we always have a little tournament on the last day.

Candy Man Gum Ball Machine

Here is every junior wood workers favourite, the Candy-man. I have no idea who originally designed this but they deserve a lot of credit. This is a procedure package i put together for my rendition of the Candy Man gum ball machine. it takes students about 3 weeks to complete.
